Description
From the Manufacturer GearWrench 9903 4-Piece Flex Combination Ratcheting Wrench Completer Set Metric, Includes: 21mm, 22mm, 24mm, and 25mm flex ratcheting wrenches. This is an add-on set for GearWrench 9901. Molded blue carrying tool caddy has room to add twelve additional sizes to the set. The boxed end of the ratcheting wrench needs only 5-Degree to move the fastener versus 30-Degree for standard box end wrenches. It has the additional capability with the flex on the box end, which allows for use in very tight places. The open end of the wrench features Surface Drive Plus technology which provides for stronger grip on fasteners which reduces fastener rounding and delivers up to 25-Percent more torque. Wrenches are made from premium alloy steel for strength and have a high polish chrome finish for long tool life.

I was really excited to finally get a ratcheting wrench set. However, the finishing on these wrenches are terrible. I heard that their quality was good in the past, but since had went done significantly. I can't say for sure how durable the mechanisms are, but from the picture you can see the manufacturer didn't pay much attention to detail.Pro:8mm to 25mm. Note this set actually skip 20mm and 23mm. They are less commonly used, but just be aware of that. The flex head is tight enough as new, so that's good.Price is very decent at $10 a piece on average.Con:Just by a quick inspection, I've found several cosmetic defects. It may not affect the use of the wrenches, but it doesn't give me confidence on the quality of the set. I'm paying a lot for this set and expecting more from GW as a reputable company. The machined markings on the side of 13mm doesn't go all the way across the body of the wrench, it's only 3/4 in. long, which is useless when you try to feel for the ratcheting direction of the box end or try to get extra grip. On the 12mm, the middle part of the wrench isn't straight, see the waving pattern. The box end has a pretty obvious dent or filed off part and they just put chrome over it.As I said in the beginning, the overall finish is subpar, even when each wrench on average only cost about $10. I've decided to return this set and get a complete 8mm to 22mm Milwaukee set. It's about $15 per wrench, but I think the quality is much better.these are well made and expect many years of use.the flex head and the tight ratcheting ability makes it easier to get in tight places.yes there are cheep ones out there but i'm not a fan of having tools break in the middle of a job.No dislikes, good tool set.Plastic rack let's 8mm and 25mm fall out, came in bag not box chrome scuffed, scratched on 2, looked like been thrown, crunched, rack bent, ECT. Past gearwrench wrenches have lasted well, so I presume these will.Long overdue review. I purchased this set of wrenches back in 2015 and have only used them while working on various personal/family cars. All I can say is “Wow”, they’ve been put through the ringer helping me with brake overhauls, suspension overhauls, and all sorts of other maintenance and modification work. I wipe my wrenches down maybe once a month but they still look and perform like new.Never had issues with the ratcheting mechanism and have never had to lubricant anything. The finish on these is durable as I’ve used them as a hammer on occasion to get a bolt through and barely see any nicks or scratches. Great set of wrenches for the price.Wow. What a great set of wrenches. I was given a smaller set of the non-flex head version of these wrenches several years ago as a gift and have used them so much, I decided to buy this larger, flex-head version. These things really let you get into tight spaces (can you say 4th Gen 4runner upper rear shock mount?) that sockets won't go and get bolts/nuts off fast without having to constantly reposition the wrench. I find myself using these wrenches more and more in places where I normally would have used a ratchet and socket. They are very strong, I've used them to remove and tighten things where I've really had to put some torque the fastener and they've held up well. At first I was concerned about the flex part being the weak link and breaking or spreading, but I haven't had any issues. The only problem I had was using the 19mm once when loosening a lug-nut (I was too lazy to get out my impact gun) and the ratcheting mechanism got "confused" and wouldn't ratchet, but a quick smack on concrete floor fixed it. It got the lug nut off and I haven't had any more problems. I know I've used some of the smaller size wrenches to torque things waaaay more than they should be, and wrenches haven't missed a beat. You do have to be a little careful when applying a lot of force to tighten/free a fastener to make sure that the head doesn't flex on you when you don't want it to or you may end up busting a knuckle (but hey, it hasn't been a productive weekend of wrench turning unless you have at least one bloody knuckle). There is a allen screw that serves as the flex pin that you can adjust to loosen/tighten the flex so you set it to what's comfortable for you.The "ridges" on one side of the wrench to help you feel if the wrench is tightening or loosening is just a marketing gimmick (at least in its current design). Yeah, they're there, but if you have gloves on you're not going to be able to feel them. And if you're like me, even if you could feel them, you're always going to give the wrench a quick turn to find out if it's tightening or loosening.....and you'll always have it backwards and have to flip it over! The plastic holder it comes in is nice and does a decent job of keeping the wrenches organized in your tool box, but I bought another wrench tray that stacks the wrenches a little closer together and doesn't "grip" on them to make getting them out just a little bit easier. So far, I'm very impressed with these wrenches. Seriously, if you don't own a set, buy some, they're that good, especially the flex head version. If you're on the fence, buy a smaller set and see how you like them and I have no doubt you'll be buying the larger sets in both SAE and Metric just like I did!The tools have thin heads and good throw in tight areas. You are not supposed to use them to break torque but in some applications I have no choice and these have held up pretty well so far. At the time of purchase, the price on amazon could not be beat for what you get.I use these frequently and they've saved me a lot of time and effort. My only complaint is that they're a little thicker than most wrenches, which sometimes limits their usefulness. I'd still never pay full price for them though, I got them much cheaper as an Amazon Warehouse Deal.I am very happy with my purchaseGear wrench wrenches may not be the best but they work very good for meThey are very affordable as wellThe flex is not too loose so it’s not annoying to use.Have quite a few gear wrenches time saversAwesome
